This was a pretty straight-forward Wordpress installation, even for a Windows Server. Once I created a CNAME record for the new subdomain, a MySQL database for the blog and a separate throttled application pool for the PHP code to run on, it was just a matter of skimming through the configuration pages.
Next thing I had to do was install a theme and customize it. If I recall correctly the theme we used was called Alterna. There we several alterations made, from slight color adjustments (through the Wordpress Admin pages) to the header and footer changed to match the main website.
Although the theme had a dependency that took care of some SEO for the posts, our content editors were more familiar with a specific SEO plugin for Wordpress so one other customization was related to the concurrency of the two plugins that needed to be sorted.
This was all duplicated for the Portuguese version of the blog running on a different domain.
